1st Edition (2019): Deepa Malik

IIM Kozhikode honoured paralympian Deepa Malik, with the ‘IIM-K National Excellence Award’ to mark the 10th edition of Calicut Half Marathon.

Arjuna and Padma Shri awardee Deepa Malik is the first Indian woman para-athlete to win a medal in the Asian Games, the first to win a world championship medal, the first woman paralympic medallist across any sport, besides being the only Indian woman athlete to win medals at three successive Asian Games. She holds a world record for swimming in an open river — across the river Yamuna for 1 km against the current — and also a record for doing a pan-India drive to promote para-sports as she spread the message, ‘Ability Beyond Disability’.

2nd Edition (2020) : Babita Phogat

Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode honoured Arjuna Awardee Babita Kumari Phogat with 'IIMK’s National Excellence Award’ to mark the Peekay Steel Calicut Half Marathon 2020 on 23rd February, 2020

Babita Phogat has contributed significantly to Indian Wrestling and has been an epitome of inspiration. She has represented India in Rio Olympics 2016 and won the gold medal in 2014 Commonwealth Games. She also won silver medals at 2018 Commonwealth Games and 2010 Commonwealth Games and a bronze medal at the 2012 World Wrestling Championships.

3rd Edition (2021): Robin Uthappa

Our director Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, bestowed renowned cricketer Mr Robin Uthappa with the IIM Kozhikode National Excellence Award for his remarkable contribution to the game of Cricket and how he ably carried Indian team forward by demonstrating resilience, focus and determination.
